Coro Pittsburgh is excited to Welcome Katherine Young to the Coro family as the Fellows Program Manager. Gen Y Likes to Job Hop. We Have a Fellowship for That

May 27, 2010

This post originally appeared on the Coro Pittsburgh blog at http://coropittsburgh.blogspot.com/

t’s no secret that Gen Y likes to job-hop, the average duration of a position for someone in their twenties is about 18 months. While this high turnover might make HR professionals squirm, job-hopping has several positive benefits.

Switching jobs frequently allows you to figure out what direction you’d like to take your career in, what skills and talents you possess, and what you need to improve. Job-hopping also keeps you passionate about your career.

It makes sense then that a major component of Coro’s Fellows Program in Public Affairs (FPPA) is work experience in the business, nonprofit, and government sectors. During the Nine-month full time fellowship, Fellows work in placements, in each of these sectors, for 6 weeks at a time. It’s the ultimate job-hopping experience.
